Pennsylvania man facing drunk driving-related charge
Being charged with a serious crime can change a person’s life. Drunk driving is one example. When that charge is accompanied by others that are equally as serious or more serious, as is the case with a 31-year-old Pennsylvania man, a conviction can mean years behind bars, hefty fines and loss of any social standing.
The accused has been charged with homicide by vehicle while under the influence, among others. He is alleged to have been involved in a hit-and-run incident which claimed the life of a 79-year-old female pedestrian. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said they were able to identify the vehicle by the vehicle identification number on a car part left at the scene.
The accused is being held in custody since he was unable to post 10 percent of his $700,000 bail. According to court documents, this is the second time the man has been charged with DUI. He was apparently charged with drunk driving in Jan. 2014.
Getting together an experienced legal team to fight drunk driving-related charges is a wise first move toward aggressively responding to formal accusations. Pennsylvania drivers who are accused of killing others while driving under the influence have a lot at stake. An experienced lawyer will pursue all reasonable means to contest the allegations and protect the client’s legal rights throughout all stages of any criminal court proceedings. Sometimes, a negotiated plea agreement may offer the best result while on other occasions a jury trial may make the most sense.
