Out-of-state woman facing drunk driving charges in Pennsylvania

A woman from out of state was arrested for her involvement in a recent crash that left one person dead. She is charged with drunk driving. If convicted, the consequences attached to this level of DUI in Pennsylvania can be severe.

According to reports, back in July, the accused was operating her vehicle in a Walmart parking lot when she struck an 82-year-old woman. The victim suffered critical injuries and ultimately died as a result of those injuries. The victim was a long-time resident of the Delmont area and is said to have been an outstanding and respected member of the community.

The accused was taken into custody shortly after the event. During a recent court hearing, this individual appeared without representation. She and her family have yet to retain private legal counsel. Bond was set in her case at $25,000, which is lower than the standard amount for this type of case.

There is a lot at stake for the accused. Her trip to Pennsylvania to take care of her ill mother could end with her spending years behind bars if she is convicted. Drunk driving cases of this nature are not treated lightly. The sooner the accused retains experienced legal counsel to assist her through this difficult time, the better off she will be. No one can guarantee that the accused will be able to walk away from this unscathed, but a skilled criminal defense attorney will have the ability to review her case, question any evidence, look for ways to poke holes in the prosecution’s case and help the accused fight for either a case dismissal or a reduction in any penalties associated with a conviction.
