Driver who crashed into house charged with drunk driving

A young man was driving his car near Manchester Township when he crashed it into a home. Pennsylvania police were called to the scene and the driver arrested for drunk driving and other criminal offenses. The potential penalties if he is convicted can have long-lasting consequences, so he needs to approach this matter carefully in court. An experienced criminal defense attorney can help him do just that.

According to a news report, at approximately 11 a.m., on July 4, the 28-year-old was operating his Mini Cooper at 80 mph in a 55 mph zone — supposedly fleeing police — when he lost control and crashed into the house. The homeowners were in the residence at the time but were uninjured. The young man apologized and told police his shoe was stuck on the gas pedal.

As police were already in pursuit of this gentleman, they were quick to arrive on the scene. The accused was promptly arrested and taken to jail. He was able to post bail and was released. He is due in court on July 18. Charges against him include DUI, driving on a suspended license, fleeing police, driving without insurance and expired registration.

In Pennsylvania, the consequences associated with a drunk driving conviction include jail time, fines and administrative penalties. A judge could also order the accused to pay restitution to the victim for the total damages, which in this case could be significant. A criminal defense attorney will have the ability to review all the evidence in this case, question it and possibly bring new information to light that will help the accused as he fights for the best outcome possible.
