A 29-year-old man is facing a homicide charge relating to a fatal crash recently that claimed the lives of three people. The accused was allegedly drunk driving when the  tractor-trailer he was driving apparently hit the bumper of another vehicle that was in slowed traffic. He kept driving, hitting vehicles as he continued along the busy Pennsylvania interstate highway.

Twelve vehicles were involved in the incident. Police say when the accused realized he was involved in the crash, he failed to stop and didn’t alert authorities. He was apprehended later by police. Three people, including an 18-month-old infant, died in the crash. Many others suffered injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals.

The accused was driving with a suspended license, and police say they smelled alcohol in the cabin of the truck. During police questioning, the accused apparently admitted to having five double shot cocktails and two or three beers before leaving a restaurant. He agreed to a Breathalyzer test, which police say showed a positive reading for alcohol. The accused, from Mississippi, is facing homicide by vehicle, DUI  and other charges in connection with the crash.

Drunk driving can lead to even more serious charges. Residents who have been accused of driving drunk would benefit from legal counsel. A Pennsylvania attorney would be able to advise clients charged with DUI of their rights and how to aggressively fight the charges. A lawyer will do everything legally possible to secure the best outcome for a client charged with driving drunk.
