A Pennsylvania man is facing some serious criminal charges after being pulled over by police in Duquesne. The charges against him include drunk driving and child endangerment. The consequences for both, if he is convicted, include jail time and fines — among others.
According to reports, the 27-year-old male was driving on Savey Street at approximately 1:30 a.m. on July 27, when he was pulled over by a police officer. The officer claimed that the man was driving erratically and asked him to submit to field sobriety testing. He complied and failed. While the officer was searching the accused, he says he found a gun on his person and in the vehicle. Also in the car was a 5-year-old child who police say was not properly restrained.
The accused was promptly arrested and transported to a holding facility. It is unclear if the child was turned over to a family member or protective services. Court dates regarding this matter have not been reported.
There is a lot at stake in this case. Pennsylvania does not treat drunk driving cases lightly. As there are weapons and child endangerment charges on top of the DUI charges, the penalties in this case if prosecution achieves a conviction may be quite severe. Thankfully, this gentleman has the right to defend himself and the right to retain legal counsel to assist him with his case. Though this case will not prove to be an easy one to fight, an experienced criminal defense attorney can help the accused address the charges against him and seek the best possible outcome available under the circumstances.
